Calling All crafters, artists and small creative businesses

Have you been crafting over lockdown? Are you an artist? Do you knit/sew/paint/sculpt/make cards/work in glass/take photographs/carve/crochet/make jewellery/weave/generally create things of beauty which you would like to sell? Do you have a small, creative business?

We’re holding an online art and craft fair in the first two weeks of November and you are invited to take part. If you would be interested in hiring a space to show off your creations, please contact Maxine Everitt: maxine.everitt@badshotleaandhale.org

There’s a cost of just £10 a ‘table’ and for this you will be featured on our website with pictures of your products and a link through to your website or contact details of where to buy. We’ll be promoting the fair on social media, through the magazine, our newsletter and in the press. And in church of course!

Or, if you would like to donate some of your creations, the parish is having a table – all profits going to the work of our churches here in north Farnham.

So help us all kickstart our Christmas shopping and join our online art and craft fair!

Quiz Night!

We are holding another Quiz Night for the parish – this Saturday evening (May 30) at 7.30pm, on Zoom.

Last time we had around 16 teams who tackled an admittedly tricky quiz (strong words were had with the quiz master afterwards!) and we are aiming for even more this time and perhaps slightly more user-friendly questions. In fact the quiz master has resigned on the grounds that he wants a chance to answer questions too and the quiz will be devised and compered by Ed Eggleton.

We’ve also learned a lot about Zoom in the past few weeks so that should all be smoother too!

Last time we raised around £100 for the parish through donations and there will be the chance to donate again. Let’s beat that number too!

Want to join in? Email Stella on admin@badshotleaandhale.org and she’ll send the Zoom link.

See you on Saturday!

A legacy rather than a tax

Wills and what happens to our money and possessions after our death is not something most of us like to think about. Nor is the idea that money from what we leave may well go in inheritance tax. Wouldn’t it be better if some – or all – of what we might pay in tax could go to a cause we supported – even, perhaps, the parish?

There is a way of doing this – by making a codicil to your will, including a legacy for the parish but leaving the rest of your will unaltered, you could free your beneficiaries from a tax burden and help the parish. If you leave such a legacy  – however small or large – via a codicil, the legacy will be completely exempt from Inheritance Tax.

Wendy Edwards, one of the LLMs in the parish, is happy to make a codicil to your will free of charge if you would like to add a legacy to the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale to your will.
