Easter Craft Market

We’ll be holding our Easter Craft Market on Saturday, March 18th, at St Mark’s Church, Alma Lane, from 10am-2pm.

You can expect a buzzing market with lots of lovely stalls – from clocks to socks, cuddlies to cards, jewels, hats, jumpers, felting, soaps…. – along with refreshments, live music and an Easter Egg hunt!

If you are a crafter who wants to sell your work, please get in touch as we have a few spaces left. Tables are just £12.50 each. You can find out more here or email or call us on 07842761919.

Easter Craft Market + egg hunt!

Come to our Easter Craft Market at St Mark’s, Alma Lane, GU9 0LT, this Saturday (April 16) between 10am and 2pm.

As well as some of the familiar favourites – like Orange Tree Glass‘s fabulous fused glass creations, and Brazilian truffles from Kay’s Treats – we have newcomers Anne Gurney with beautiful papercraft and new knitting from Veronica Cox. Ridgeway School has a stall and we also have cards, jewellery, soap, crochet work, candles and lots and lots of gifts.

What’s more, we are having an Easter egg hunt. Find the eggs on some – but not all – of the stalls, fill in your sheet and claim your prize!

All this, plus live music, refreshments, a happy atmosphere and the Kitty Milroy murals!

Holy Week and Easter

Easter is being celebrated in the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale in north Farnham by a series of services, reflections, a craft market, and an open-air Easter Experience and not just one but four Easter Egg hunts.

On Monday to Wednesday this week there will be meditations at St John’s, Hale, at 7.30pm.

On Maundy Thursday, April 14, there will be Holy Communion, the Stripping of the Altar, and a vigil at both St George’s Church, Badshot Lea, and St John’s Church, Hale, at 7.30pm, with foot-washing at St John’s as well.

On Good Friday, April 15, there will be a Good Friday liturgy at St John’s, at 9.30am, and a service at St Mark’s, at 11am. At 2pm at St George’s, there will be Good Friday devotions.

On Easter Sunday, April 17, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at St John’s, at 9.30am; then at St George’s at 10am; and at St Mark’s, Upper Hale, at 11am, and each service will be followed by an Easter Egg hunt.

On Easter Saturday, April 16, there will be an Easter Craft Market with an Easter Egg hunt for children, at St Mark’s Church, Upper Hale, from 10am-2pm. There will be lots of stalls selling everything from knitwear to truffles, jewellery to soaps, and a trail to find Easter eggs.

And don’t forget the Easter Experience in the churchyard at St John’s, Hale, a series of interactive stations which trace the story of the last week of Jesus’ life all the way to his death on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. The Easter Experience is available at all hours of day and night until April 18.

Your April Magazine is here

Easter is around the corner, that glorious season of hope and light as we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ, and this month’s magazine is full of Easter promise.

Scroll through the pages and you will find details of our Holy Week services and Easter itself, along with our Easter Experience in the churchyard at St John’s.

There is plenty more inside the magazine too. Scroll through to read a reflection from our LLM Craig on suffering; then read news from John Innes from Wiltshire; make a note for your diary for Campfire – our storytelling event – on 8th and the Barn Dance on 9th. There is a confirmation in the Cathedral on Easter Saturday, just after our Craft Market, and lots more.

Enjoy your magazine and may you have a blessed Easter.

An Easter Experience

Follow the story of Holy Week and Easter in our outdoor Easter Experience in St John’s Churchyard, from April 4-18. You will follow stations which will take you from Gethsemane to the Garden Tomb, via the Courtyard and Golgotha, and discover the story behind the betrayal, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Easter Experience will be open at all times and there will be signs explaining what to do.

Your March magazine is here

Spring is here and so is the March magazine, full of news and events across the parish.

This month we head into Lent and there is a chance to sign up for Lent groups which will be held in person and on Zoom. The theme is forgiveness and you can find out more about the subject in Lesley’s ministry letter.

Also prominent this month is the parish’s part in the first Farnham Literary Festival. St Mark’s is the only north Farnham venue and will be hosting several workshops, a rehearsed reading by the Farnham Theatre Association, and the awards ceremonies for both the Farnham Poetry Competition and the Farnham Short Story Competition.

Then there is news from local groups, plans for Easter, prayer, plans for a Barn Dance, words from our MP, a cat or two and much, much more.

You can find it all here:

The April Magazine is out

Our April magazine is out now, full of Easter hope, news, plans and offers by our wonderful, loyal advertisers.

Inside, along with the joy of Easter, you will find information on our plans for growth and how we want to serve our community better, you’ll find encouraging news about vaccinations, courses about faith, a ‘cycle ride’ from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for the church and for research into dementia, a piece about Pamela who has led the choir at St John’s for the past decade, and much more. (Miaow! Don’t forget me – the Church Cat).

Please read, share, respond, contribute. Let’s tell more people about all that this parish has to offer. And if you’d like a printed copy, let us know.

You can find the magazine here:

The cover price of the magazine is £10 for the year which pays for the editorial costs. We would be grateful if those accessing it online would pay £1 an issue. You can pay by clicking on the button below:
